“Me” Time

Are you in desperate need of “Me” time?

Have you ever felt like life was happening around you? You know, hours fly by, days are on fast forward and you are having a hard time breathing, let alone coping with the array of things that you need to get done? I wear so many hats: one is for family, the next is as an employee, an author, and a blogger and then I have one special hat when I am just plain me. It can be hard finding my sanity when every role on my life is taking a hit. It is times like that when I am thankful for “me” time.

“Me” time is time when I am able to cast off all of my roles for a few moments and dwell on me-my mental state, health, visions, dreams and everything that concerns me. It is when I can sit back and recuperate, for when I am empty, there is nothing more for me to give.

“Me” time does not have to be for hours, days or weeks; it can be a couple of minutes to take a hot shower (with a small child, this is a luxury) or it can be just enjoying a nice cup of hot tea. The point is to slow down and breathe.

Last week, while watching The Cat and the Hat, Cat remarked: “When you slow down, the world will come to you.” Instead of getting lost in your list, stop and enjoy the moments. Laugh, giggle and finger paint with your children; enjoy a stroll around a lake or in a park; enjoy your time with family and friends. Instead of making your problems a priority, make yourself one so that you can effectively deal with the stresses life has a way of throwing you.

Life is too short to not enjoy it; if you’re not, then change your paradigm and watch your world change.

May you find the time this week to breathe and be refreshed. Enjoy what it means to be you.
